Using GideonSoft: Broadcast a Message or Question
Broadcast is how to send a message or ask a question of others in an Instance. Sending is available to people with Power User permissions and above. Recipients are all at the Instance level, and everyone can receive and respond, regardless of permission set.
When signed in to the web, click the Broadcast icon toward the top right. First select Send a message or Ask a question.
Start sending a message or a question:
- Select an Instance … From the dropdown. Only Instances you have access to will be displayed.
- Select a role … One or more from the dropdown.
- Select recipient(s) … One or more from the dropdown.
- Message/Question text … Enter up to 500 characters for the message you wish to send, or the question you wish to ask.
If asking a question …
- Enter responses … Provide 2 or more possible responses for the recipient(s) to choose from, one per line.
- When would you like this question to expire? … Select from the dropdown.
- When would you like to send a reminder? … Select from the dropdown. This will send a reminder notification to anyone who has not yet responded.
- Click Post!
The notice for these will be displayed on the GideonSoft timeline feed, and a notification will be delivered to each recipient in the GideonSoft app and via email (keep in mind the recipient may/may not have those notifications enabled).
Responses from your question will be displayed on your timeline feed. On the far right of the results box, the following actions are available, by clicking the 3 dots:
- Turn Off … To prevent any further responses.
- Delete … All responses will be permanently deleted and removed from people’s timelines.
- Promote … Causes the notification to get re-sent for those who haven’t answered yet.
- Share Results … Several options:
- Download a CSV
- Download a chart image (a .png file)
- Share the results with others … The results will be displayed on the selected people’s timeline feeds. They will not be able to download or share the results with others.
- Select an Instance … From the dropdown. Only Instances you have access to will be displayed.
- Select a role … One or more from the dropdown.
- Select recipient(s) … One or more from the dropdown.
- Click Share.
- Refresh … To display the latest results.
