Measurement Model – Overview

The Model Builder is used to organize your GideonSoft configuration into a Profile report, based on a data model (or Measurement Model), displaying each person’s progress.

You can use the Event Builder, Calendar and Planner to provide a timeline for your GideonSoft configuration. This portion of the Measurement Model is designed to help leaders organize what their people spend their time doing, but even more critically, to link these activities to desired outcomes. This tool connects your schedule to a performance model, coordinating a strategic ‘plan of attack’ to make your vision happen and aligning it with a system to help assess its effectiveness. By doing this, a leader should be better able to answer the question “How do you know that what you are doing actually works?”

In GideonSoft, the timeline process works like this:

  • Create Event Containers (and Folders if you like), which organize parts of your class or season into a logical arrangement. See Measurement Model – Event Builder: Containers
  • Populate the Event Containers with Events, which include activities, intensity and volume, and a way to tie to GideonSoft data input and output. (This step can help make clear why a peer survey or behavior observation tool is needed!) See Measurement Model – Event Builder: Folders and Events
  • Review the Event schedule in the Calendar to see how full or intense the planned workload is over time, and make adjustments as needed. See Measurement Model – Calendar
  • Review Activity detail in the Planner to focus on the types and frequency of activity, and make adjustments as needed. See Measurement Model – Planner
  • Review What’s Being Measured to see how GideonSoft data collection methods (e.g. surveys, observations, etc) connect your Events to desired outcomes. See Measurement Model – What’s Being Measured
  • Execute the plan! Conduct your class or season, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ask ‘Are we improving?’ and see why and how by tracking key performance indicators, reviewing performance data, and comparing with events and activities over time.
