The Feedback Tool 1: Overview

The Feedback Tool assists evaluators in the assessment and counseling process by storing commonly-used feedback counseling statements. Instructors can choose from a library of feedback items (instead of having to type them up from scratch), and personalize it, so that this counseling content can be included in reports for a student’s or candidate’s benefit.

For example, you can have instructors or evaluators complete a Performance Counseling Survey that includes an “Add Feedback” button, which accesses the Content Library. When the instructor clicks “Add Feedback”, they’ll see a dialog with some options:

  • Choose one or more categories from the drop downs to filter available feedback items. As a choice is made from the drop downs, the list of available items updates automatically.
  • To select an item, either double-click on it or drag and drop it in the “Selected Item(s)” area on the right.
    • To de-select, double-click or drag and drop back to the left.
  • Click the “Insert free form text” button (if available) to add a customized or personalized comment, type in the white text box, and click “Insert”.
  • When done, click “Append Content”.
  • The prepared items and comments will now appear in the text field.

Depending on the configuration, feedback can be automatically sent via Notifications to a Basic User, or communicated via a report. We recommend providing students with their feedback in a face-to-face counseling session whenever possible.

It can also then be viewed by Power Users and Overseers on a person’s Profile page. Each feedback item is associated with a unique ID which allows for analysis on the effects of providing specific feedback statements. Counseling capabilities and tendencies of your instructors can even be evaluated!

Notes:

  • The Feedback Library (Categories and Items) is all stored at the Module level, but it is actually implemented at the Instance level (via Surveys, Reports, etc.).
  • Content Rulesets are stored at the Module or Instance level in which they are created.
  • On surveys, the feedback question type is not supported on the mobile app. As a result, once a feedback question is added to a survey, the entire survey will not be available for anyone signed in to the mobile app.
