Survey Design 4: Pre-Questions

Pre-Questions offer the person completing the survey a way to provide more context around the data points being captured. An example might be a survey evaluating performance during a strength and conditioning session, so a Pre-Question could ask “Which session?”, with possible responses being “Morning”, “Mid day” and “Evening”.

  • Pre-Questions must be answered by the person completing the survey before proceeding to the main survey content.
  • There can be more than one Pre-Question, and they can be dragged & dropped to re-order  as needed.
  • Pre-Questions always appear at the start of the Survey, before any of the Sections are presented.

To manage the tag repository, on the survey design page (where available surveys are listed), click Tags. Any existing tags are displayed. Click the name to edit or remove it. When editing or creating a tag:

  • Question … Enter the question you want to ask.
  • Responses … Enter the response options, using commas, semicolons or line breaks to separate them.

Tags can also be managed on the survey design screen as you edit a survey.

To add a new Pre-Question, drag and drop the “Pre-Questions” item above Section 1 in the Survey work space.

  • Question … Enter the question you want to ask.
  • Answers … Enter the response options, using commas, semicolons or line breaks to separate them.
  • Save to repository? … this makes the Pre-Question available to other surveys in the Instance.
  • Click the “Add” button to save.

To import a Pre-Question from the repository, drag and drop the “Pre-Question” item above Section 1 in the work space.

  • Click the Import button towards the bottom the Pre-Question settings.
  • Select the Pre-Question and click the “Import” button.
