This tool lets you select and export larger amounts of data, using a few more filtering options, and export data into a .CSV format. This is the tool you need if you want to analyze data using your favorite statistical analysis tool such as SPSS, SAS, or R.

From the Instance homepage, navigate to “Data Tools” (using Quick Links), and then select “Data Export.”

 

  • On the right, under What do you want to export?, select one:
    • Evaluations … This contains all the evaluations from any source (observations, surveys, import)
    • Observations … This dataset contains all the evaluations originating from observations. Columns include observation specific fields, such as Event and Type (positive, negative, neutral).
    • Ranks … This contains any configured Rank variables.
    • Roster … The Roster dataset contains the people and objects within a class.
    • Scores … Contains all the scores – Raw, Calculated and Transformed.
    • Statistics … Contains all the calculated stats for each score which has Include in Statistics selected. All the statistical calculations are included: Sample Size (population), Average (mean), Std Dev, Suspect & Criminal.
    • Survey Evaluations … This dataset contains all the evaluations originating from a survey. Columns include survey specific fields, such as Survey, Prompt, Question Type and Response.
    • Or, in Saved Custom Exports, you can select an option (see ‘Save Template for Later’ below.
  • A preview of the dataset will display the first 10, 25, 50 or 100 records, with all the default columns, in order to verify the format.
  • You can select the green Export button to output to CSV, or gray Customize button to further define the dataset properties (columns, sort order, data filters and/or people filters).
    • Save Template for Later … If you make changes to the options, you can save your customizations for a later use. The Save As button becomes available towards the bottom of the Data Export panel. Provide a name, and click Save.
    • Saving a custom layout will add it to the Saved Custom Exports drop down under the name the user provided.
    • Deleting and Editing functions are located on the Customization panel after selecting a layout from the dropdown.
