Module Settings – Managing Attachment Types

Files uploaded to Profiles (Instance level) are grouped into Attachment Types, which then are used to determine visibility or access for other users. If many files are uploaded on a person’s profile, grouping these files based on Attachment Type can also make finding and reviewing attachments easier.

Attachment Types are managed at the Module level, and are available to all Instances in the Module. Power Users can also create Attachment Types and set permissions when they attach files, so an Overseer can review these to make sure the appropriate permissions are assigned.

From the Module home page, select the “Settings” button and then “Manage Module Attachment Types”. Any existing Attachment Types, including file count and permissions, will be displayed.

Adding an Attachment Type

  • Click the green “New Attachment Type” button.
  • Provide a name.
  • Select one or more Roles from the “Roles that can manage files” drop down. This determines who can upload files.
  • (Optional) Select one or more Roles from the “Additional roles that can only view files” drop down. This determines who can view but not upload files.
  • Click “Save”. This Type will now be available to all Instances in the Module.

Editing an Attachment Type

  • To edit an existing Attachment Type, click the blue down arrow, and then click “Edit”.
  • From the popup dialog box, you can edit the name, the list of Roles that can manage this Type, and/or the list of Roles that can only view this Type.
  • Click “Save”.

Deleting an Attachment Type

  • To delete an existing Attachment Type, click the blue down arrow, and then click “Delete”.
  • This Type will be removed from all Instances in the Module.
