Survey Item: Calculation Question Type

This powerful option lets you configure mathematical formulas that can take other survey responses as input.

• Number format … specifies the number of decimal places, and whether the result should be displayed as a percentage
• Show calculated value … the resulting value can be displayed in the survey.
• Formula … This flexible editor provides previewing to help navigate you through creating whatever calculation you need. As you make changes, the formula changes, and will display in red if it is not logical or complete.
  • What type of item do you want to use? … when you add an item, you can choose
    • The value from another question on the survey. Specify a grouping function for the question’s values (Average, Count, Min, Max, Sum) and specify a value to be used if that question is not answered;
    • Or simply specify a constant (value) to use.
  • Operator …
    • Click Set to add an operator to the formula.
    • Scroll down and click to add the operator. You’ll be prompted to set the next item in the formula.
  • Click the “+” buttons to add parentheses into the formula. Click on the “(“ or “)” buttons to remove parentheses.
