Any GideonSoft user can set Goals for themselves and track his or her progress. As part of the process of setting a Goal for yourself, you can define an action plan, which contains commitments, or the behaviors or steps to take to achieve the Goal. These goals and commitments can be shared publicly among peers within GideonSoft (so they can see and even copy what you’ve created).

See Setting Goals

There are times when a supervisor may need to set specific goals, or Objectives, for an individual or a group of people. Supervisors can leverage the data they are already tracking within GideonSoft to assign objectives based on specific measurements. Everyone who is assigned an objective can track their performance directly on their profile page; this conveys what is important to their supervisor. Supervisors can quickly view all their people’s progress using one simple report.

See Managing Objectives

A couple important distinctions between Goals and Objectives in GideonSoft:

  • Goals are set, defined and tracked by an individual, and only apply to that individual.
  • Objectives are created by a supervisor or coach, and assigned to an individual or a group of people (a “top down” approach).
  • Goals apply to an individual, regardless of what Instance they are in.
  • Objectives are Instanced-based.
  • Objectives are based on existing score variables, whereas Goals can be created at will and independent of variables.
