Report Item: Detail Data Chart

This is a flexible way to display data as a Line Chart, Pie Chart, Bar Chart or Word Cloud. For those who have used previous versions of GideonSoft, this replaces the Line Chart card. Any reports that utilize the Line Chart will still function as normal, but you can no longer add a line chart item to a report from the report card item gallery. If you edit a line chart item, it will be automatically converted into a Detail Data Chart (preserving all the previously configured properties.)

General Options

  • Columns … Select how many columns (up to 4) are used for display.

Chart Settings

Most of the options available in the single value versions of the charts are used for the detail data version with some exceptions. Use Chart Type to select one of the possible visualizations. Different options may appear, depending upon the chart type selected.

Line Chart

  • Series Field … Select what categories the bars will represent.
  • X-Axis Type … Set to Date (line charts typically reference time on this axis). Note: Using Scores as a data source may not logically make sense with a line chart, since they function as a single value that may get updated.
  • X-Axis Field … Select the field to populate the X-axis.
  • Value Field … Select the value represented by the height of the bars (Y-Axis).
  • Value Summary Function … Average, Sum, Count, Min, Max
  • Value Label … Toggle on and provide a label
  • Top Axis Value … Toggle on and provide the top value on the axis (unless a data point is greater).
  • Bottom Axis Value … Toggle on and provide the bottom value on the axis.
  • Tick Count … Specify the number of tick marks (the interval is affected by the top axis value).
  • Custom Tick Labels … Display or hide the tick labels (and customize the text).
  • Title … Toggle on and provide a label.
  • Sub-Title … Toggle on and provide a label.
  • Show Grid Lines … Off by default.
  • Show Tooltips
  • Show Legend … Toggle on and choose position of legend.
  • Legend position … Right or Bottom.
  • Format Values as Time
  • Starting Color … If there is more than one line, subsequent lines will follow the color chart.
  • Conditional formatting is available. These rules will override the automatic series coloring (based on series label).

Pie Chart

  • Series Field … Select what categories the bars will represent.
  • Value Field … Select the value represented by the size of the pie sections.
  • Value Summary Function … Average, Sum, Count, Min, Max
  • Title … Toggle on and provide a label.
  • Sub-Title … Toggle on and provide a label.
  • Chart Size … Small, Medium or Large.
  • Pie Inner Radius … Enter a number in pixels; 0 by default. Increasing from 0 turns the pie into a donut.
  • Value Format … Percentages or Values.
  • Tooltip Format … Percentage, Value or Both.
  • Starting Color … If there is more than one slice, subsequent slices will follow the color chart.
  • Conditional formatting is available. These rules will override the automatic series coloring (based on series label).

Word Cloud

  • Word Field … You can select any field, but Comment typically makes the most sense.
  • Enter words to exclude … Write words, one on each line, to exclude them from the cloud.
  • Show Top N Words … This option will only display the specified number of top ranked words.
  • Minimum Word Count … This option will exclude words that don’t meet the minimum count threshold.
  • Minimum Word Length … This option will exclude words that don’t meet the minimum length threshold.

Process with AI (BETA)

Collects the matching comments and processes them with AI to produce results (if available). ‘AI Provider Status’ confirms whether this option is enabled.

  • Text Field … Choose a field or expression that has text, like comments or responses.
  • Sort Field … The sort field will control the order of the text items to ensure data consistency. Best practice is to use a Date/Time field, like Timestamp. The field will be sorted in descending order automatically.
  • Limit results to use … Enter a maximum number of records to use.
  • Prompt … Select one. These can be customized for your organization.
  • Summary Format … This determines the output format:
    • Brief Summary … 1-2 sentences
    • Short Summary … 4-5 sentences
    • Bulleted List … 8-10 key points
    • Detailed Paragraph … up to two paragraphs (8-10 sentences each)

  • GideonSoft enforces a 40,000-word input limit, ensuring efficient processing. Generated results are cached and will only refresh when the underlying data changes.
  • Viewers have several methods to interact with AI-generated content:
    • Thumbs Up … locks the current response until the data changes.
    • Thumbs Down … regenerates the result and prompts the user for optional feedback.
    • Refresh Icon … allows manual regeneration at any time.
  • Each AI output also includes a link to the GideonSoft Knowledge Base article on AI usage, ensuring people understand context, limitations, and best practices. Also included is a count of how many data points were used to generate the result.
  • The following items are important to understand when using AI:
    • AI can make mistakes
    • We do not train our model using your data
    • The AI service provider does not retain any information
    • If the GideonSoft AI provider is not available in your environment, contact support about getting a customized version tailored for your environment.
