To record a Behavioral Observation, tap Observations (the eye icon) at the bottom of the app.

1. Start by selecting Where to add the location/event where the Observation took place. 
   • (Optional) Custom Timestamp … By default GideonSoft will record the current timestamp. If you’re entering an observation made at a previous time/date, you can set a custom timestamp via the Set Timestamp option in the top right (a clock icon).
   • (Optional) Repeated entry … A lock icon will appear on the Where button once an event is selected. To save a step when observing the same event for a longer period of time, you can ‘lock’ the event by tapping the lock icon by the event, so it will be pre-selected for the next observation.
2. Then select Who to add one or more people. You can easily search for people if needed. 
   • (Optional) Notifications … Once you’ve selected at least one person (or Lineup), you’ll have the option of notifying the subject(s) of your observation. Tap the bell icon and confirm. Once you post the observation, the notification will be sent.
   • (Optional) Repeated entry … A lock icon will appear on the Who button once at least 1 target is selected. To save a couple steps when observing the same subject(s) in a single event, you can ‘lock’ both the event and target(s).
3. Then identify the behavior or action (i.e. What), using one of the following to select one from a list …
   • Red minus (-) … negative behavior
   • Gray dot … neutral behavior
   • Green plus (+) … positive behavior
   • Blue plus (+) … action. This observation type is different from a behavior. It enables an observer to quickly capture the number of times an action occurred (e.g. how many pushups a candidate does; or, how many pitches were thrown), and allows a running total of an action to be tallied.
   • (Optional) Tags and Comments … After selecting a behavior or action, you may have some additional options available, such as selecting a tag, or adding comments. Note that comments are not always available for every behavior depending on how your organization configured GideonSoft.
4. (Optional) Attach an image … At the top of the main Observations screen, you can attach a photo of the behavior you observed for additional clarification or context, using the camera icon.
5. Once you have filled out the required fields (Where, Who, What), tap the Post! button near the bottom of the screen. The entire process should take, on average, 10 seconds.

You can view recorded observations by tapping the Observation History icon at the top of the screen. To edit a recorded Observation, you must sign in to GideonSoft via the web.
