Roles are typically configured at the Module level, and assigned at the Module and Instance level, so they only function within a single Module at a time. For Organizations who require user access to more than one Module, a Role Cluster can be used to more easily assign a user to Roles in multiple Modules.A Role Cluster can enable a consistent set of permissions across Modules, or can be fine-tuned for each linked Module.
Role Clusters are managed at either the Module or the Org level. Go to “People” … “Manage” … “Role Cluster Assignments”. Any existing Role Clusters will be displayed, along with assigned people in the displayed Module.
To add a new Role Cluster, click ‘+New Role Cluster’. By default the Simple Role Cluster Editor is displayed. Use the advanced editor if you need to fine-tune the permissions or use the Auto-Roles feature.
- Role Cluster Name … Enter a concise but meaningful name.
- Choose the Modules to associate with this Role Cluster … Select one or more from the drop down.
- Select what people in this Role Cluster can do within GideonSoft … Select one or more permission sets from the drop down.
- Using the Advanced Role Cluster Editor, you can add combinations of one or more Modules and associated permission set(s) at a time.
- Click Create Role Cluster.
Note:
Roles cannot be edited or have assignments change once they’re part of a cluster.
