Measurement Model 1: Overview

The Measurement Model is designed to help leaders clarify what they’re trying to achieve and how they plan to achieve it. This tool connects your schedule to a performance model, coordinating a strategic ‘plan of attack’ to make your vision happen and aligning it with a system to help assess its effectiveness. By doing this, a leader should be better able to answer the question “How do you know that what you are doing actually works?”

In GideonSoft, the process works like this:

  • Begin with the end in mind and define an ideal performer … Using the Model Builder, specify the knowledge, skills, abilities and other attributes that characterize what people should look like at the end of the process.
  • Build out your schedule with Events … Using the Schedule Builder, create and edit Events with start and end dates/times, and organize them using folders and containers. You can also leverage options like labeling Event Types as Mastery or Performance, or set the expected intensity level for an Event.
  • Create a list of Activities you plan to use … In Event Activities, add as many activities as needed, organize them in categories and link them to your model. As you then add an Activities to Events, you specify volume (minutes), which, combined with intensity, enables precise and nuanced tracking.
  • Link your Model and your Schedule … Use the Outcomes Matrix to map events to the model. See how GideonSoft tools (e.g. surveys, observations, etc) connect your Events to desired outcomes.
  • Review the workload … Use the Calendar to see how full or intense the planned workload is in a given time period, and make adjustments as needed.
  • Then, execute the plan!  … Use the Planner as your switchboard to turn surveys, reports and observations on or off when needed, and conduct your class or season.

Ask ‘Are we improving?’ and see why and how by tracking key performance indicators, reviewing performance data, and comparing with Events and Activities over time.
